Start with the screen in front of you
720p can be a practical choice for a small screen or a limited connection. 1080p gives more detail on a larger display. 4K is most useful when the film, screen, service and connection support it together. A big resolution number cannot repair a poor source or remove motion blur already in the film.
Open the exact title and use Watch now to compare the editions available in your country. Check the destination’s quality label for that particular offer. A rental and a subscription edition of the same film may not include identical picture or audio options.
HD, Blu-ray and HDR are different labels
HD describes high-definition picture formats. Blu-ray is a disc format and can also appear in descriptions of a source. HDR concerns the range of brightness and colour, not simply the number of pixels. Seeing one label is not evidence that every other label applies.
If the picture keeps dropping in quality
Pause competing downloads, move closer to the router or try a wired connection. Let the player settle before changing several settings. If it offers a manual quality menu, choose a lower setting as a test. Compare the result with another title to distinguish a connection-wide problem from one edition.
